Retelit and WIS are happy to announce that the upgrade of IG-1 submarine cable is completed and ready for service.
The upgrade offers new high capacity (low latency) fiber connectivity between Western Europe to Balkan Peninsula. The optical fiber in the IG-1 submarine cable was extended to Retelit’s cable landing station in Bari, Italy; WIS and Retelit can now offer high capacity connections between Bari and Aetos.
In cooperation with additional third-party network operators, new express (low latency) services can now be made available from any major Western European network access point to almost anywhere in the Balkan Peninsula or neighboring areas, including Athens (Greece), Tirana (Albania), Pristina (Kosovo), Sofia (Bulgaria), Bucharest (Romania), Istanbul (Turkey), and beyond.
