Retelit completes the acquisition of BT Italia’s Italian operations and assets.

Strengthening the reference hub for companies in the Telco & ICT world

Press Releases

Retelit, a leading Italian company in the Telco & ICT sector focused entirely on the B2B market, announces the completion of the acquisition of BT Italia's domestic activities and Italian assets.

Launched on April 23 with the signing of a preliminary agreement, the acquisition is now complete with the establishment of Retelit-X, a new company wholly owned and controlled by Retelit.

Retelit thus marks an important turning point in its path of continuous evolution, development, and innovation, which in the last three years alone has seen the acquisition and integration of the expertise and assets of five Italian companies specializing in B2B telecommunications. This path of growth is consistent with market needs and confirms Retelit's role as a technology leader and strategic partner in the B2B world.

Thanks to this operation, Retelit significantly strengthens its infrastructure for digital services, reaching a total of over 47,000 km of proprietary fiber optic network throughout Italy and adding four additional data centers in the metropolitan areas of Milan and Rome to its extensive network of over 34 data centers stretching from north to south. In particular, the Tier IV-certified Data Center in Settimo Milanese will enhance the Avalon Campus — Italy's largest interconnection hub with over 170 operators—guaranteeing the highest standards of reliability and security that Retelit offers its customers.

The integration also allows Retelit to enrich itself with new skills, experience, and talent, making human capital, together with technological capital, the real engine of growth. This is accompanied by the integration of over 360 companies that were already BT customers in Italy, further strengthening Retelit's position as a leading operator in the Italian Telco & ICT market, the only one exclusively focused on the B2B market, with an annual turnover of approximately €500 million.

Retelit customers, which include some of Italy's largest industrial groups, can now count on an even higher level of service and an even broader portfolio of connectivity, housing, cloud, and security solutions characterized by innovation, reliability, and security, as well as the agility and response times that companies demand and that are part of Retelit's DNA.

"This new stage in Retelit's growth and consolidation, made possible thanks to the contribution of BT, with whom we will continue to collaborate, strengthens our role as a leader in the Telco and ICT sector in Italy and consolidates our position in the B2B market, with a digital platform offering that integrates digital infrastructures and solutions capable of meeting the needs of the SME, Large Corporation, telco operators, OTTs, including multinationals and the public administration, and with even more widespread coverage of the national production fabric. In a rapidly evolving market such as telecommunications, where the convergence of technology, data, and security is increasingly central, this transaction confirms our commercial and development strategy. A strategy based on a clear industrial vision, supported by our shareholder Asterion, which is being implemented through targeted acquisitions, such as the transaction already underway with Sparkle, and investments in assets, platforms, and skills. This path positions us as a leading operator in the telco and ICT sector, even at a global level, equipped with our own infrastructure that integrates network, data centers, and cloud, which is currently one of the most comprehensive in Italy." commented Jorge Álvarez, CEO of Retelit and Retelit-X.
