Retelit, a leading Italian Telco & ICT company focused on the B2B market, has acquired from Melpart, the holding company of Stefano Meloni, a real estate complex in Milan Bisceglie to develop two new data centers, with a total investment of €100 million.

The new facilities will be integrated with Avalon3, Retelit’s hyper-connected and sustainable data center inaugurated in 2022, and will expand the data center infrastructure in the Milan metropolitan area.

The new integrated hub will have a total surface area of approximately 10,500 square meters and a power capacity of 10 MW, enabling it to meet the growing demand for digital services, from cloud and edge computing to high-performance computing applications based on artificial intelligence.

The infrastructure will also comply with the highest Tier IV standards, the highest level of reliability for this type of infrastructure, as is the case with Avalon3. Particular attention will be dedicated to efficiency and sustainability: the infrastructure will be designed to enable the recovery and reuse of the generated heat, with the possibility of feeding it into the city’s district heating network.

The investment in Milan Bisceglie, which will further expand our Avalon Campus, represents another important step in the already announced data center development plan. This operation strengthens our infrastructure in line with the company’s strategic positioning and with Retelit’s growth and consolidation plan, aimed at reinforcing networks and data centers, which are fundamental elements to support the evolution of new digital technologies and artificial intelligence,” commented Jorge Álvarez, CEO of Retelit. “With the expansion of the Avalon Campus, which consolidates Milan as a national and international digital hub of reference, we reaffirm our commitment to developing infrastructures capable of responding to the growing demand for cloud and advanced ICT services, generating concrete value for customers, partners, and territories.

The transaction represents an important step for Melpart in enhancing our real estate portfolio, confirming the effectiveness of strategic collaborations in the data center and energy sectors. We are proud to contribute to the development of advanced digital infrastructures such as those of Retelit, which support the technological and sustainable growth of the country,” commented Stefano Meloni, Chairman of Melpart.
