Retelit, a leading Italian B2B telecommunications provider, and Microsoft Italy announce a new step in their strategic collaboration aimed at enhancing cloud access for businesses and public administrations.
With this new initiative, Microsoft and Retelit lay the foundation for a next-generation cloud infrastructure designed to meet the reliability, scalability, and security needs of Italian companies.
The collaboration provides businesses and public administrations with a flexible, scalable, and fully interoperable IT environment, combining the benefits of public cloud with the control and customization of private cloud.
The innovation lies in a fully redundant connection architecture (i.e., with a second backup connection, completely autonomous and independent from the primary one) to Microsoft Azure, Microsoft’s cloud computing platform, ensuring greater resilience, operational continuity, and security.
Retelit, already directly interconnected with the Azure platform through its Avalon Campus data center in Milan—one of Italy’s most advanced digital hubs—will be the first operator in Italy to offer a second direct and redundant connection to Azure via the interconnection point hosted by Data4.
This new setup eliminates major local and geographical critical points, providing a concrete response to business continuity needs.
For customers already active at Avalon Campus with ExpressRoute—Azure’s service that enables a private and direct connection to their IT infrastructure—the addition of the new redundant connection service will be immediate and seamless, with no impact on operations and no need for complex reconfigurations.
The infrastructure is designed with a multi-region approach to offer maximum geographic flexibility and operational continuity, even for companies connected to Azure in regions outside Italy, such as Amsterdam.

This initiative is part of a hybrid cloud strategy that aims to integrate the advanced capabilities of Microsoft Azure—including AI, analytics, collaboration, and security solutions—with Retelit’s cloud infrastructure and services.
