Digital infrastructure for broadcasters, OTTs
and media groups
For those who produce and distribute content, the network can never stop. We support broadcasters, OTTs and media groups from the live event to global distribution: with dedicated lines for the moments that matter, data centres connected to the main global operators and submarine cables to bring content anywhere.
Broadcasters, OTTs and media groups demand an infrastructure that never stops: during live events as in everyday distribution.
For those who produce and distribute content, the quality of what reaches the audience depends on the quality of the infrastructure that carries it. Sporting events, news broadcasts and live shows rely on a technical chain that allows no interruptions: from the fibre that brings the signal to the studios, to the data centres that handle it, to the points where the network meets those of the major distribution operators. The sector is undergoing a transition towards IP-based architectures, coexisting with traditional systems: a phase that requires flexible infrastructure and partners with established operational field experience.
For those distributing globally, the distance between the control room and the audience is measured in latency: every extra intermediate step means something arriving late or with poorer quality. Having a partner with its own transport infrastructure, terrestrial and submarine, makes the difference.
Retelit supports broadcasters, OTTs and media groups with a single proprietary infrastructure: 47,000 km of fibre optic in Italy, 38 data centres across the national territory and the AAE-1 submarine cable that connects Europe to Asia and the Middle East. In our Avalon Campus, over 170 operators, CDNs and OTTs already converge interconnected, including the leading global content distribution players.
For those who live on live broadcasts, events and on-demand content, this translates into a single point of contact for the entire cycle: from the dedicated connection for the live event to distribution to the final audience worldwide, without depending on third-party operators for international routes.
The requirements of broadcasters, OTTs and media groups.
From the dedicated connection for the live event to global content distribution, from the continuity of transmission systems to the protection of archives: three operational fronts that affect every broadcaster every day.
Dedicated lines for live events and live production
A Champions League final, an election, a music event with a global audience: everything comes down to the quality of the connection between the event location and the control room. What is needed are dedicated fibre lines, with guaranteed bandwidth and alternative paths already in place, not solutions shared with other customers. You cannot improvise during a live broadcast. For the most important events, on-site technical supervision, with someone monitoring the signal in real time who can intervene before a problem becomes an interruption, makes the difference between going on air and not going on air.
Bringing content to audiences worldwide, without extra hops
Distributing content to an audience in Europe, Asia and America requires low-latency transport routes and direct connections to the major distribution platforms and the main CDNs. The more direct the connections, the less time content takes to reach the final audience, with fewer points of failure along the way. For those operating across multiple markets, choosing a partner with its own transport infrastructure, terrestrial and submarine, and with connections already active towards the major global operators is a concrete operational lever.
Operational continuity and protection of archives and content
Those who go on air every day cannot afford interruptions of any kind. What is needed are redundant data centres with recovery systems at guaranteed times and archives always accessible from the newsroom network, because a stock clip that cannot be found slows production down just as much as a network failure. Alongside continuity, the management of embargoed content, valuable masters and multiplatform distribution flows requires continuous protection against cyber attacks, which in the media sector hit both production networks and editorial portals.
The Retelit solutions for the Media & Broadcasting sector.
From the dedicated line for the live event to distribution on a global scale, from the data centres in Italy to the submarine cable reaching Asia and the Middle East. A single proprietary infrastructure, built for those who cannot afford to stop.
Dedicated fibre lines for signal transport and live production
Point-to-point Ethernet connections on Retelit's proprietary fibre between production studios, playout centres, remote control rooms and media hubs: guaranteed bandwidth, low latency and physically separate paths to ensure signal continuity even in the event of a failure on one path. Available capacities go up to 100 Gbps and adapt to coverage peaks without requiring new contracts. Our fibre is compatible with modern production architectures and with traditional systems already in service, without forcing technology migrations.

The Avalon Campus is the point where the Retelit network meets those of the main global operators. Today it hosts over 170 operators, CDNs and OTTs already interconnected, including the leading global players in content distribution and public clouds: those who choose to bring their equipment into the Campus find themselves just one connection away from the major distribution platforms. Our 38 Italian data centres are distributed across the national territory and offer space, power and connectivity for every production and distribution need.

Our network does not stop at the Italian borders. The AAE-1 submarine cable, 25,000 km long with landing in Bari, connects Europe to Asia, the Middle East and the United States and is one of the fastest submarine connection systems between the two continents. Added to this are the connections to the 2Africa and Blue cables in Genoa and terrestrial routes towards the main European cities with measurable and guaranteed latency. For broadcasters and OTTs distributing across multiple markets, having direct access to this infrastructure means not having to pay other operators for international routes.

Private cloud environments hosted in Retelit's Italian data centres for post-production workflows, media archive management and transcoding. Content stays under Italian jurisdiction, with fast access from the newsroom network and backup and recovery systems at guaranteed times. Those who also work with the major public clouds can connect directly from within our infrastructure, without routing data over the internet. A single integrated environment for production, archiving and multiplatform distribution.
Discover the serviceEthernet: dedicated technical supervision for live events
For events that cannot afford interruptions, such as a Champions League final, a worldwide live ceremony or an election, we offer a support service that goes beyond the connection. We design the setup together, with physically separate paths and technical tests in the field. On the day of the event, a dedicated technical manager is present on site and our team monitors the signal in real time, with the ability to intervene before a problem becomes an interruption visible to the audience. A technical report at the end of the event completes the service. For those who go on air in front of millions of people, human technical supervision is not an optional extra.
Discover the serviceDirect connection to CDNs, OTTs and the global Internet
To reach the final audience in the shortest possible time, we offer direct access to the global internet network and peering connections towards the main content distribution operators. Our network is already directly connected with the main CDNs and OTT platforms: this translates into lower delivery latency for those watching on the other side. We are present in the main European internet traffic exchange points, from Milan to Amsterdam, from Paris to London. For those distributing via streaming, the most direct route is always the best route.
