The Avalon 5 Data Center in Settimo Milanese is the next-generation site where we host our Clients' most critical workloads. A seismically resistant structure, 2N+2N redundant and protected by a reinforced concrete shield: the right setting for hybrid cloud projects and for sovereign cloud initiatives that require data kept on national territory. Across 14,740 gross sqm we host up to 2,400 racks in flexible 10 sqm modules, with specialized technical staff on site 24x7x365.

A modern, reliable data center

Avalon 5 makes it possible to host the most critical systems at a low-risk site. The Settimo Milanese area was chosen for its low seismic and hydrogeological exposure and its distance from major-hazard industrial plants. It consists of two separate buildings with five above-ground floors. The data halls, located at the centre, are protected by a reinforced concrete shield: the physical security standard demanded by those who choose an Italian infrastructure for their strategic data. All systems are free from single points of failure thanks to N+N redundancy. This is the foundation that allows us to enable hybrid cloud architectures: on-premise workloads interconnected with the leading public nodes, with low latency and full data sovereignty.

Modular spaces for colocation and cloud

The data halls occupy 5,940 sqm across three floors, divisible into 330 sqm REI 120 modules and further partitionable into dedicated rooms from 13 sqm — the right size for private environments and projects that require isolated perimeters. 1,800 sqm are dedicated to offices and workplace recovery, the remaining 7,000 sqm to technical areas. Antistatic raised floor with a distributed load capacity up to 2,500 kg/sqm and a clear height of 275 cm.

Guaranteed business continuity

Every maintenance operation is carried out with the service live. Business continuity is guaranteed even in the event of catastrophic events, thanks to N+N redundancy across all systems.

Efficient, green cooling

Nominal cooling capacity of 5,000 kW. In summer the system draws groundwater from over 40 metres deep; in winter it uses free cooling. The water is then reused for agricultural irrigation.

Autonomous energy backup

10 transformers of 2,000 kW, 2 power centres, 12 UPS units in a redundant parallel configuration. 6 diesel generators provide over 50 hours of autonomy at full load, with 45,000 litres of diesel in reserve.

Physical security and data sovereignty

Reinforced concrete perimeter shield, seismically resistant structure, anti-climb system, closed-circuit cameras and four-level access control. A perimeter that meets the requirements of sovereign cloud projects for Italian Public Administration and enterprises, where data sovereignty is non-negotiable.

Ready for hybrid cloud

Modular 330 sqm rooms, partitionable from 13 sqm, with direct interconnection to the Retelit backbone and to the leading hyperscalers: the ideal foundation for hybrid cloud architectures, with power up to 7 kVA/sqm (approx. 15 kVA/rack).

Integrated Workplace Recovery

1.800 sqm dedicated to office spaces equipped for workplace recovery: workstations always available or set up on request for the Client's staff disaster recovery plans.
