Retelit at the CISPE General Assembly
Italy’s role in shaping the future of European Cloud
In recent days, Retelit took part in the CISPE General Assembly, the leading European organization bringing together cloud infrastructure providers committed to building a competitive and secure market based on the principles of digital sovereignty.
The topics discussed confirmed the central role of cloud as an enabling infrastructure for European competitiveness: expanding data center capacity across the Union, harmonizing sovereign cloud service definitions, ensuring interoperability between platforms, and fully safeguarding security, jurisdiction, and data residency. Looking ahead to 2026 and the upcoming Cloud and AI Development Act (CAIDA), Europe is preparing to triple its data center capacity to ensure technological independence.
In this context, Retelit positions itself as a key player in translating European objectives into concrete infrastructure, making strategic assets and specific expertise available to the country.
Data sovereignty: the value of national infrastructure
Retelit’s strategy is based on a fundamental principle: there can be no logical sovereignty without physical control of infrastructure. In a market that demands clear guarantees regarding data jurisdiction, the answer lies in an ecosystem entirely located in Italy and managed according to rigorous European regulatory standards.
The core of this model is a network of proprietary data centers, including Edge Data Centers and the Avalon Campus in Milan — the heart of Italian interconnection — ensuring security, performance, and full data residency in compliance with requirements for critical services.
To support growing demand and ensure technological independence, Retelit has launched a multi-year investment plan aimed at strengthening its infrastructure. The latest step in this strategy includes the construction of two new data centers in Milan Bisceglie: integrated into the Avalon 3 system, they will provide 10 MW of additional capacity and will be designed according to Tier IV standards, the highest in terms of resilience and operational continuity.
Strategic partnerships and certified security
To enable cutting-edge logical sovereignty solutions, Retelit integrates best-in-class technologies within its secure perimeter. Through strategic partnerships with global players such as Microsoft, it combines the power of public cloud with the control of a private, fully redundant infrastructure, thanks to secure connections that bypass the public internet.
Similarly, collaboration with partners such as Wasabi Technologies has enabled the development of high-performance Cloud Object Storage solutions. The reliability of this model is certified by the ACN (National Cybersecurity Agency) qualification, confirming compliance with the security and resilience requirements necessary for managing sensitive data in a fully protected and sovereign environment.
Towards a competitive digital ecosystem
Participation in the CISPE Assembly confirms the alignment between European priorities and Retelit’s industrial strategy, focused on strengthening national infrastructure, expanding local cloud capacity, and integrating with leading technology players according to a truly sovereign model.
A concrete commitment to building a secure cloud ecosystem focused on full data protection, supporting the digital transformation of businesses and Public Administration.
